Mammoth Camp Day 3

I am now at my favorite dry land training camp- Mammoth, California Baby! The altitude is high and the training is sweet. Today Sarah Daich and I went for a long run in the INYO National Forest. Or as I like to call it the "In Your Face National Forest". We did a beautiful 3hr loop and stopped along the way to check out the Devil's Postpile, which is one of the main tourist attractions of this park.

The devils post pile is a dark cliff of hexagonal columns formed by volcanic rock called basalt. It was created by lava flow between 100,000 and 700,000 years ago. The postpile's columns average 2 feet in diameter and many are 60 feet long.

For the rest of our workout we were surrounded by the scenic vista views of the eastern sierra Nevada's, with elevations of over 2800 meters. The desert like sandy single track was perfect for running, with little impact to the joints.

Check ya later!
